Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

All Exploring and Tiger Pathways students are invited to utilize this service. We won’t turn students away, so if you’re unsure if this service is for you, please join us and we’ll help you identify the correct resources for you.

No, Peer Advising hours are walk-in only, so no appointment is necessary. However, it is first come, first serve, so if a Peer Advisor is unavailable when you join, you may have to wait a few minutes for help.

Peer Advising does not replace Academic Advising and Peer Advisors cannot give the in-depth advice that your academic advisor will give you. If you haven’t yet met with your advisor, a Peer Advisor will help you make an appointment to see them first.

Ideally, you will register for classes on or after your assigned Enrollment Date & Time. This date can be found in myZou by going to Manage Classes -> Enrollment -> Enrollment Dates -> choose the correct semester/term -> your enrollment date should be listed on the resulting page under ‘Enrollment Appointments.’

Enrollment Dates/Appointments are not the same as a Registration Planning appointment with your Academic Advisor.

We recommend that students meet with their advisor sometime in the two weeks leading up to their Enrollment Date. On your Enrollment Date, if you need assistance, Peer Advisors will be available for immediate questions, whereas your advisor may not be available.

You can find your advisor in a few different locations:

  • MU Connect – in your Connections and Success Network
    • This is also where you’ll go to schedule your appointment
  • myZou – in the Academic Records tile
  • Stellic – under Advisors on your Home and Progress pages

That’s great! We recommend that you email your advisor for information about how to go about declaring that major.

Some Schools and Colleges at MU have their own Peer Advising or Drop-in hours that you can utilize for questions about specific programs:
